What is WAACS?
WAACS stands for the West African Alternative Care Summit, a regional gathering focused on promoting sustainable, evidence-based family-based child care reform across West Africa.
Who is organizing the summit?
WAACS is convened by the Association of Orphanages and Homes Operators in Nigeria (ASOHON) – Northern Region, in partnership with regional and international stakeholders.
Where and when will the summit take place?
The First Edition took place in the beautiful and culturally rich city of Jos, Plateau State Capital in Nigeria in 2025. The 2026 edition is taking place in Accra, Ghana where another country will be chosen for the next edition.
Registration & Payment FAQs
Who can attend WAACS?
Government officials, orphanage and home operators, social workers, legal experts, child protection advocates, researchers, development partners, and individuals with lived experience in care are all welcome.
Is registration required?
Yes. All participants must register online. Visit the Registration Page to secure your spot.
Once submitted, you will receive an email with instructions on how to make payment and confirm your spot.
Is there a registration fee?

What are the accepted payment methods?
We accept payments through:
Bank Transfer (for local and international participants)
On-Site Payment (at the registration desk on the day of the event)

Can international participants pay via bank transfer?
Yes! International attendees can pay by wire/bank transfer. Visit our Registration Guideline Page for Banking details
What are the registration tiers or packages?
We offer different tiers to suit your participation level (International, Local etc). You’ll see the options and associated benefits during the registration process.
How do I confirm my payment?
After making your payment, send your proof of payment (receipt or screen shot) to: [email protected]
Our team will confirm your registration within 48 hours.
Can I pay on the day of the summit?
Yes. However, we recommend early registration to secure your spot and receive updates ahead of the event. Limited on-site slots may be available and are subject to capacity.
Will I receive a confirmation email after payment?
Yes! Once your payment is verified, you’ll get an email confirmation with next steps, and important information about the event.
I’m registering a group. What’s the process?
Each group member should complete a separate registration form. You can then make a single bulk payment and email a list of the participants with proof of payment to [email protected].
Can I get a receipt or invoice for my organization?
Absolutely. If you need an invoice or receipt for your records or organization, let us know in your registration form or email us.
